Where Temi users can transcribe now
If you used Temi for quick machine transcripts, you’ve seen the site now sends you to Rev. Here’s what changed, what to download before your account moves, and where your recordings can go next.
What happened to Temi
Rev says Temi has been folded into Rev. Visit temi.com and you land on a Rev page headed “Like Temi? You’ll Love Rev.” A link there, “Not ready to try Rev? Click here to continue using Temi”, still opens the old app.
Rev’s Temi page has a line worth reading twice: “Upon successfully merging, you will lose access to Temi.” Once you merge, the Temi account is gone. Download what you want to keep first.
What Temi and Rev publish now, and what Textspert does instead
| Topic | What Temi and Rev publish | What Textspert does |
|---|---|---|
| Where temi.com goes | A Rev promotion headed “Like Temi? You’ll Love Rev.” | Its own plans: Free, hour packs and Unlimited (fair use up to 720 hours a month) |
| Your old account | Rev says accounts that merge lose access to Temi | Delete files on your own schedule, or export everything and close the account |
| Free use | Rev Free: 45 AI minutes a month, English only | 3 files a day, each up to 60 minutes, in 100 languages |
| Paying per use | Rev AI transcripts at $0.25 a minute | Hour packs: 5 hours for $5, 20 hours for $15 or 60 hours for $35, good for 12 months |
| Model training | Rev’s terms let it use speech-to-text content for continuous training | Your files never train any model |
Save your Temi files before you merge
Open your old account
The “continue using Temi” link on the Rev page takes you to the app you know.
Download your transcripts
Export every transcript you still need from Temi itself, in whatever formats it offers.
Keep the audio
Original recordings still on your computer or phone can be transcribed again anywhere.
Then choose
Merge into Rev or move to one of the services below. Nothing forces the choice until you click merge.
Five places to take your recordings
Rev
The path Temi itself points to. Rev Free includes 45 AI minutes a month, and a human transcript is $1.99 a minute.
Textspert
Pay once, transcribe whenever. Packs start at 5 hours for $5, and the hours last 12 months with nothing renewing.
Sonix
Sonix Core is $25 a month for 5 hours; extra hours on a subscription cost $10 each. It offers a 30-minute trial with no card.
Happy Scribe
For people who already subscribe there or need many languages. Happy Scribe sells extra minutes at $0.20 each, but only on top of a paid plan, starting with Basic at $17 a month.
Otter
For short meetings. Otter’s free plan includes 300 minutes a month, though only the first 30 minutes of a conversation are readable and you get 3 imports in total.
Cost per hour of audio, compared
For occasional work, one hour of audio is the fairest yardstick.
| Option | Price as listed | Per hour of audio | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rev AI | $0.25 a minute | $15 | rev.com AI transcription |
| Sonix | Core $25 a month for 5 hours; extra hours $10 each on a subscription | $10 per extra hour, plus the plan | sonix.ai/pricing |
| Happy Scribe top-ups | $0.20 a minute, on top of a paid plan | $12, plus the plan | happyscribe.com/pricing |
| Textspert 5-hour pack | $5 | $1 | Pricing |
| Textspert 20-hour pack | $15 | $0.75 | Pricing |
| Textspert 60-hour pack | $35 | about $0.58 (the 60-hour pack) | Pricing |
Pack hours count by the length of each recording, expire 12 months after purchase and are removed if the pack is refunded. Packs skip the Free plan’s daily limits and take files up to 10 hours, but they don’t include translation, chat or bulk export.
What you get with Textspert that a bare transcript lacks
A plain block of text is fine for a voicemail. An interview needs more. We label up to 4 speakers per file, and you can rename, merge or reassign them. Click a doubtful phrase, hear it and fix it in place, timestamps intact.
Export TXT, DOCX, PDF, SRT, VTT, CSV or JSON. One click drafts a summary, chapters and action items, and Free gets 3 AI summaries a day. The spoken language is detected across 100 languages. More on interview transcription.
Questions from Temi users
Is Temi shutting down?
Temi’s own site now leads to a Rev promotion, and Rev says accounts that merge lose access to Temi. We haven’t seen a shutdown date, so save your files soon.
What’s the closest thing to Temi now?
Rev, since Rev now runs Temi and points its users to Rev’s own AI transcription at $0.25 a minute. A Textspert pack suits occasional work and never renews. Sonix Core is $25 a month for 5 hours, then $10 per extra hour on a subscription.
Can I upload my old Temi recordings to Textspert?
Yes, if you have the audio or video: MP3, M4A, WAV, MP4 and most other formats. We don’t import transcripts from other apps, so start from the recording.
Does Textspert transcribe languages other than English?
Yes. Textspert transcribes 100 languages and detects the spoken one for you. On Unlimited, you can also translate a finished transcript into 100+ languages.
Is there a free option?
Textspert Free gives 3 files a day of up to 60 minutes each, with no card; free transcription has the details. Rev Free gives 45 AI minutes a month, and Otter’s free plan gives 300 minutes a month.
