Free converters that never upload your file
These change one file type into another on your own computer. The file is converted inside the browser tab, so nothing is uploaded and no account is involved. Use them to pull the audio out of a video or to change an audio format.
- MP4 to MP3Pull the audio out of an MP4 as an MP3, right in your browser.
- Video to MP3Keep the soundtrack of MOV, MKV, WEBM or MP4 video as an MP3.
- M4A to MP3Make an MP3 from an M4A voice memo or recording, on your device.
- WAV to MP3Shrink WAV recordings to MP3 without uploading them.
- MOV to MP3Save the sound of an iPhone or QuickTime MOV as an MP3.
- OGG to MP3Turn OGG and OPUS voice notes and audio into MP3, on your device.
- MKV to MP3Pull the audio track out of an MKV recording as an MP3.
- MP4 to WAVSave the sound of an MP4 as a 16-bit WAV, in your browser.
Subtitle tools
Turn an SRT into VTT or back, or into plain text, on your own computer. To make captions from a recording, use the subtitle generator.
Which tool fits your file
- For video from Zoom, a phone or a screen recorder, start with video to text.
- MP3 to text covers every audio file, from MP3 and WAV to M4A.
- Phone recordings and saved WhatsApp messages go to voice memo to text.
- Captions, not a document? The subtitle generator makes SRT and VTT files.
- Speaker identification explains how labels work when several people talk, and where they go wrong.
- Free transcription lists exactly what the Free plan includes.
One account behind every tool
The tools aren’t separate apps. Start from any page and the file lands in the same workspace, opens in the same editor and exports to the same seven formats. Limits come from your plan, not the tool: Free covers 3 files a day of up to 60 minutes each, and paid plans take files up to 10 hours long.
The editor is shared too. Click a word to hear it, fix it in place, rename speakers and run a summary before you export. For pages by kind of work, not file type, try use cases.
Questions about the tools
Do any tools cost extra?
No. Every tool runs on your plan. Paid features like chat and translation are marked where they appear.
Which tool should I use for a phone recording?
Voice memo to text covers iPhone and Android recorders plus WhatsApp and Telegram voice notes. If the phone recorded video, use video to text.
Is there an MP4 to MP3 converter?
Yes, and it works on your own computer: the MP4 to MP3 converter never uploads your video. You don’t need it for a transcript, though; MP4 and other video files upload directly.
